Since 1 year we live in Drenthe and we experienced all four seasons here. The grave-mound, situated between Drouwen and Borger, looks impressive in every season.
In summer 2008 they placed a sign with the grave-mound explaining that this one is the only one remaining from a row of grave-mounds between Borger and Drouwen. The other hills were gradually leveled. May be the heavy and massive stones which were used for this grave-mound saved it from destruction. Because of these stones it was possible to find out that this hill is from the bronze age, dated to about 1800 - 1500 BC. The grave-mounds in this area were situated along a centuries-old North-South route over the Hondsrug. In prehistory they used to bury the dead alongside roads. These roads only were simple foot-paths or cart-ruts.
